And we know that in all things God works
for the good of those who love him,
for the good of those who love him,
who have been called according to his purpose.
Romans 8:28
This morning, I woke up and decided to read one of my favorite passages of Scripture, Romans 8:28. I have grown up reading this familiar scripture and it is one that I have heard often in my life. However, as I kept reading this chapter in Romans, another scripture stood out to me and I felt the familiar tug of the Holy Spirit speaking to me.
And having chosen them, he called them to come to him. And having called them, he gave them right standing with himself. And having given them right standing, he gave them his glory. (Romans 8:30)
As I read this Scripture, the love of God began to overwhelm me. God chose us. We are not rejected, but we are a chosen people by God. Therefore, since he chose us, we get to receive right standing with Him because of Jesus Christ. Despite my sin and my failure, I am in right standing with God because of the precious blood of the Lamb. And because of this right standing, I get to receive God’s glory. God’s glory is always accessible to me and I can enter into it whenever I desire. How incredible is that! God’s glory is available to us at any moment. We receive God’s glory because of Jesus Christ. It is not something that is difficult to obtain, but we can take hold of it and experience it whenever we so desire.
I truly believe one of the greatest ways to enter into God’s glory is through worship. Worship exalts our God and beckons His presence and His glory. Worship connects us to the glory of God and is where we can encounter Him in wonderful ways. However, when we worship God in Spirit and in Truth, we must always come with open hearts, minds and attitudes, posturing ourselves in a way that is ready to receive all that God has for us—ready to receive His greatness and His glory. When we come humbly and expectant before the Throne, I have no doubt in my mind that God’s glory will fall upon us. John 11:40 says, "Jesus said to her, ‘Did I not say to you that if you believe, you will see the glory of God?'"
We must believe that the glory of God is ours and believe that we will see it and experience it when we pursue him.
