CHOOSING: THANKFULNESS // GRATITUDE // PRAISE

Enter his gates with thanksgiving;
go into his courts with praise.
Give thanks to him and praise his name.
Psalm 100:4

Lately, entering God’s house with thankfulness has been on my heart. Life can become so busy, and it can be very easy to enter God’s house feeling uptight, stressed out, and even sometimes a little negative. Our mind is in other places and our posture is a bit heavy and worn down. But here is where I have felt challenged to be thankful in all things: to always find joy in my circumstances no matter what they may be, and to always enter the gates of the house of God with a thankful and grateful heart.

Our attitude and our mindset determine everything. We've all had bad days—and I'm no exception. There have been days when I have woken up and immediately wished I could get right back in bed. Some days seem like nothing can go right, and that the world must be against us. I've have realized that on these days, if I choose to have a positive attitude and find the good in every situation, my day becomes a whole lot more inspiring. If I choose to be thankful and grateful for the simple facts that I am breathing, that I have a roof over my head, and that I have a God who loves me, I view life from a completely different perspective.

Entering God’s courts with praise and thankfulness is not always easy, and it is certainly not always "natural." But it is a command that is beneficial to every one of us. We have a daily decision to make and it is up to us if we will choose to enter God’s house with thankfulness and gratefulness or if we will choose the opposing side. I want to encourage us as the body of Christ to recognize and to be grateful for the littlest, daily blessings in our lives. If we focus on what is positive, life will be a lot more pleasant. We must always decide to live out of an overflow of gratitude and have a posture of thankfulness before our God.

I would like to leave you with a final scripture:
“Not that I was ever in need, for I have learned how to be content with whatever I have. I know how to live on almost nothing or with everything. I have learned the secret of living in every situation, whether it is with a full stomach or empty, with plenty or little. For I can do everything through Christ, who gives me strength.” (Philippians 4:11-13)
Because of Jesus’ incredible sacrifice for us, we can be content in every situation. We can always enter God’s courts with thanksgiving and praise because of what He has done for us. No matter how hard and challenging life may be, would we always rejoice in our Savior and find the goodness in the life that He has given us. May we always bless His holy name and bring Him praise.

Thanks for reading,

Israel
