For anyone who’s been reading this blog for a while now, you haven’t seen my name on a post in a few months. You may remember my family and I moved to Beijing, China at the beginning of February to serve a 6-month mission assignment with the worship ministry of a church there. We have been back in Oregon for a few weeks, and while we miss many good friendships from our time in China, we are thankful to be home, and are even more thankful for the amazing support we received from our church family at Beaverton Foursquare.
We watched God open amazing doors for us to serve as musicians and pastors to an English speaking community in the heart of Beijing’s university district. The church is vibrant, and many people are hungry to know Jesus in China. There were great opportunities for each of us to serve, and living on the mission field as a family of 5 was an experience that has changed us forever.
While we were living in China, the details of our ministry were somewhat under the radar. We sent updates to friends & family through email, since internet filters in China made it difficult to communicate through social media. We've archived the email updates online as blog posts for anyone who would like to catch up. The updates begin with one post in January 2016 (a few weeks before we left), and they continue with photos and videos from each week of our music ministry mission.
On a practical note, this blog is intentionally hosted on a Google website (and not the Beaverton Foursquare website). Google websites are blocked in mainland China, so these posts are inaccessible to people there. (we've done this intentionally to make sure there are no concerns for the safety of our Chinese Christian friends).

Thanks for reading, and I look forward to seeing many of you in person around the church now that we’re home.
Brent
