Uncertain Circumstances by Israel Talamantes

It can be difficult to trust God and worship Him when plans are not in place, and areas of life are grey. Sometimes, it can feel like we are trapped in a whirlwind and are unsure of what is coming next. We don't know what the future holds, and the direction of our life is unclear.  When I first started college, I didn't know how I was going to be able to afford four years of education.  When I got engaged to my wife, we were unsure about where we were going to live. When I moved to Beaverton and moved away from my entire family, I couldn't see yet what God had in store for me.  Life can be uncertain, circumstances can change, and we may find ourselves struggling to trust in the One who knows all things.

One Scripture that has constantly encouraged me in these times of doubt and fear is
Joshua 1:9, “ Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged, for the Lord your God will be with you wherever you go.”

“DO NOT BE AFRAID.” This is such a great reminder that there is nothing we should fear, because the Lord truly is with us wherever we go; whatever situation we may find ourselves in.

I also find strength and confidence when reading Romans 8:31, “What then, shall we say in response to these things? If God is for us, who can be against us?”

It is truly a blessed assurance when we know that the God of the universe is for us. We have a God who is not going to let us down, a God who is with us every step of the way, and a God who wants the very best for us.  Because of this truth, we can walk with faith, knowing that whatever is taking place in our life, whatever the situation may be, we can always trust in Him.

God is reliable. There is no question about that. He always delivers on His promises, He always helps us in our time of need, and He always has a plan. “ ‘For I know the plans I have for you,’ declares the Lord, ‘plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.’ “ We are His chosen people, His beloved, and He has great things in store for us.

In every one of my life situations I listed above, God did not let me down. He took care of my finances (and continues to!), He provided a place for my wife and I to live, and he has surrounded my with incredible blessing in my new life in Beaverton. The Lord has taken me to places I could never have even dreamed of being, and even though at times I doubted Him and was unsure of what He was doing, He has always been my faithful God – and He is for you, as well.

My encouragement for all of us today is this: may we walk with confidence, trusting greatly in our Lord.  May we walk always knowing that God is on our side and He will not fail us. May we live boldly and live in victory.  When Satan tries to fill us with fear and doubt, let’s remind Him of the God we serve.

“No one is like you Lord; you are great and your name is mighty in power.” (Jeremiah10:6)
