BE TO THE ONE by jamie robison

Hello, Friends.

This week, my heart has been deep into writing (and completing!) a song. It's a song that paints pictures and describes the emotions we feel as we realize—truly realize—and respond to the Lord for the victory that we can have in the name of Jesus.

As I've walked a very redemptive journey with a few people very close to me, heard their stories and the life the Lord has renewed in them, I've discovered that, though specific sins have their own levels of consequences, there is nothing too deep, no place too far we could run that the Lord can't draw us back to His heart.

Jesus speaks truth; He delights in showing mercy. He challenges our religious rules that bind us and prevent us from letting Him cover and renew us with His grace. Yet somehow, we still perceive an endless ladder that we must climb to keep proving ourselves worthy to Him.

We are not worthy. But to Him, we, His creation, are worth it.

We are not worthy. But through Him, we can become worthy sons and daughters of the Most High.

This song is the sigh of relief—when we've finally allowed ourselves to lean on our Savior and give up the reigns on our own authority. Whatever your struggle, whatever your darkness, whatever it is you hold onto that you know you must leave behind..."there is no sin too deep to keep you from purest love." Let light in by bringing Jesus, and others you trust, into the depths of your story. It's a good way to start.

I'm thankful that my husband and I made time to do this video this week—between very busy schedules, caring for our 10-month-old son and also a goldendoodle that had to go to the vet too many times for his exuberant inhalation and dismemberment of our Thanksgiving trash bin.

I'm thankful we took the time to make this simple, "first draft" recording of this song with me at our piano, because I didn't want to wait for it to be perfect. I know that others have been walking a journey that is longing and waiting to experience what freedom, and letting the light in, might look like.

May His face shine upon you and be gracious to you.
